Refund policy

If something isn’t right with your order, tell us and we’ll sort it out. Email info@mischu.co.za or call 076 379 1693.

The short version

  • Changed your mind? You have seven days from delivery to cancel, under South African law.
  • Faulty, damaged or not what you ordered? You have six months, and we cover the cost of the return.
  • Opened coffee or tea? We can’t take it back on a change-of-mind basis, for food-safety reasons — but if there’s something wrong with it, that’s different. Talk to us.

1. Your seven-day cooling-off right

Under section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, you may cancel an online order within seven days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason and without penalty.

To cancel, email info@mischu.co.za with your order number.

Goods must come back to us unused, in the condition you received them, complete with original packaging and in a re-saleable state. They remain your responsibility until we receive them, so please use a trackable delivery service. The only cost to you is the direct cost of returning the goods. We will refund the price you paid within 30 days of the cancellation.

2. Returns after the seven days

Beyond the cooling-off period we will still consider a return for up to 30 days from delivery, provided the goods are unopened, unused and in a re-saleable state in their original packaging. This is a goodwill arrangement rather than a legal entitlement, and you cover the return shipping.

If you are exchanging for a different product, we will charge or refund the price difference, plus return postage.

3. Faulty, damaged or incorrect goods

This is separate from, and additional to, the rights above.

Under sections 55 and 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, if goods are defective, unsafe or not as described, you may return them within six months of delivery and choose whether you want a repair, a replacement or a refund. We cover the cost of the return in these cases.

If your order arrives damaged, or you receive the wrong item, please tell us within 48 hours of delivery and send a photograph if you can. That helps us take it up with the courier — but it does not limit your six-month rights above.

4. Coffee, capsules and tea

Sealed coffee, capsules and tea may be returned unopened in line with sections 1 and 2 above. Once a seal has been broken we cannot accept a change-of-mind return, for food-safety reasons.

This does not affect your rights if a product is defective, stale on arrival, or not what you ordered — see section 3.

And if you’ve opened a bag and simply don’t enjoy it, tell us anyway. We would far rather hear about it and help you find a coffee you like.

5. Machines, grinders and accessories

Equipment carries the manufacturer’s warranty in addition to your rights under the Consumer Protection Act. If something goes wrong, contact us and we will help you arrange a repair, replacement or refund as appropriate.

6. How to return something

  1. Email info@mischu.co.za with your order number and what’s wrong.
  2. We’ll confirm the return and give you the return address.
  3. Send the goods back, packed well enough to survive the trip.
  4. We’ll inspect them on arrival and process the outcome.

Please contact us before sending anything back — unannounced returns are easily lost.

7. Refunds

Refunds go back to the original payment method. Once we have processed a refund, it typically reflects within five to ten working days, depending on your bank or card issuer. Original delivery charges are refunded where the return is due to a defect, an error on our side, or a valid cooling-off cancellation.

8. Items we can’t take back

  • Gift cards
  • Coffee, capsules and tea where the seal has been broken, other than where the product is defective or incorrect
